with the pen on my Wacom tablet, it died today. Justin gave me the whole package at christmas, but until a few weeks ago, I hadn’t used it much. Then I decided the only way to get the hang of the pen thingy was to put my mouse away. things were getting pretty comfortable, once I discovered that there are back and scroll buttons on the tablet ( I had become so used to my cordless scrolling mouse with all the buttons ) and then this afternoon, the ‘tip’ of the pen doesn’t seem to register, nor do the two buttons on it; the ‘eraser’ end works fine, but that won’t do. So I did a lookup on the Wacom site, deleted some file, restarted, and poo. Its still a no go. Which means that I have had to return to the mouse, which now seems totally clumsy and huge. I may try to take the pen in to see what’s wrong, or get a new pen – probably the latter.
I went and had lunch with a few people from V.Mars this afternoon, at a great Italian place in Hillcrest, and I had the most wonderful gnocci ever. Sal gave me the Nike shoes that I picked out ( everyone on our little crew got to choose a pair from the catalog – nice! ) I picked out a ‘to and from the gym’ shoe, or a yoga shoe. It felt a bit small, but that was a quick try-on in the parking lot. I hope I can make them work, as they are pretty cool. Then after I got home, Trish ( the supervisor ) came by to deliver my last two checks from that show. One had been missing for a couple of weeks – and the other day after I called they put a stop payment on it – and then today it showed up in the mail. With one postmark on the 6th and the other yesterday – I have no idea what’s going on with our post office. Another letter from our bank was a similar story – dated the 2nd of the month and it arrived here today.
I’ve posted ads on the Craigslist for the yard sale / fabric sale tomorrow at Julie’s house – hopefully it will all go away, and I will have some $ in return. Yesterday I took some cotton scraps – three large bags full- to a friend of mom’s who is a quilter, and she seemed thrilled to have them.
Last night Lauri and I watched ‘Memiors of a Geshia’ – I would have been totally lost had I not read the book. It was pretty, though, but the accents were bad and too much of the story was missing. Glad I didn’t pay to see that one in the theater. I currently have ‘Spellbound’ and ‘Thumbsucker’. Why oh why does it seem that there are a rash of movies about the same thing? I saw another film advertised the other day about kids and a spelling bee. Why on earth?
wish me luck tomorrow.
And sometime near midnight the Richards’ come home. Yay!
Those people at the Post Office…
know they cannot lose their job. I believe there are a few dedicated people that work in government services, but the rest don’t really have any motivation for excellence in service. Our mail is regularily delayed, sometimes nothing for several days, and then a whole pile of it. It happened at both boxes in Seattle, and the one here is no exception.
Grrr..
Re: Those people at the Post Office…
we’ve only had occasional problems. Mostly we have to beat it into people’s heads that we do not get any mail at our house. Several missing checks and documents over the years, no matter how many times we tell a new company that the “mailing address” is a PO box, they still insist on a street number. But its been a while, and never the double postmark thing. I wonder where do those pieces of mail go for two weeks? And then how do they finally find their way to the righ address? If I could be a fly on the wall, so to speak, it would be interesting. Or not. ( I ‘see’ a box with mail in it being ignored, not exactly exciting I’m sure )
I agree, mostly on the dole is exactly what most government employees are, merely taking up space and taking home a paycheck and with more benefits than I might ever wish for.
