well, damn close, anyway. I put the last of the grout in my stonework project this morning. On Thursday I went through over a hundred pounds of grout, using up everything I had. Richard stopped for more ( honey, would you mind picking up another 94 pound bag of tan ‘spec mix’ on your way home? ) on Thursday afternoon, but, they were out, too. So I had a day of rest from that, which I sorely needed. Got more yesterday, and completed that part this morning. Now, I can do a final scrub tomorrow, and then put the sealer on on Monday or Tuesday. It has turned out nothing like what I had envisioned, but thats not all bad. I am so pleased ( not to mention the $$$ we saved ) I sat just looking, smiling and feeling just a bit smug.
With this push to get that project done, I missed the boat on putting my eBay auctions up like I had planned. Oh well, the world won’t stop turning because of it, right?
We are planning on going to the fair tomorrow morning, ( having missed it last year ) hoping that some of the crowds will be either at church or looking for parking at the beaches. There is this part of the fair that I love, the ‘Design in Wood” competition, though not affiliated with the fair, runs concurrently and is shown there. The most beautiful furniture and objects you have ever seen, hand made from all types of wood. I also love looking at the ‘collections’ in the home and hobby section, and the student art. One of the things that I think about when I envision walking around the fair is all of the people carrying mops or something similar that they bought from one of the vendors in the exibition hall. That seems like the weirdest thing that someone would go to the fair to purchase. Now I’m sure that that is not why they go, but can’t you just go to Target and buy a mop? Have you, or anyone you know, ever bought a mop at the fair?
It looks like now that I will be returning to work a little sooner than I thought. Yesterday I got a call from a designer who is coming next week to work on a pilot which starts to shoot on the 20th of this month. I will be starting on the 15-18th. I don’t know much about it other than it is for the ABC-Family network, and it is centered around an african american family. I think it is a three week shoot, so it may overlap with VM a bit, but that shouldn’t be too big of a deal. Not like last fall, when I was juggling two series, a pilot and a movie all at the same time.
So now, with work starting I wonder if I will be able to go to see the new house in September like we’ve been planning. I don’t know if we will need to fly up to sign the papers ( assuming everything goes through ) or if they can be Fed-Exed to us. We learned yesterday from the realtor that there is now a backup offer in place, and with that the owners have decided that everything with the house is ‘as is’. Annoying, but what do you do? We will continue to wait, and hope all is well.
The final product…
is always something to savor. Good job on the stonework! I look forward to some pics in the future!
And nice thinking on the software for the computer swap. Things like that just seem to escape me, thinking that a job has to be harder than it really is.
